The Role of Women in Medieval Europe
Rhoda Himmell, National Center for History in the Schools, U.C.L.A. CA. Paperback.

Uses primary sources to establish an historic dramatic moment for students to read followed by teacher background information and more readings enhanced by inquiry questions, role playing and simulation lessons. Perhaps the unit gives too great an emphasis on women within Germanic tribes to the exclusion of other more relevant information. One interesting section illustrates male attitudes which determined women's place within the framework of medieval society.
